AirAsia Recovery Effort

Since the AirAsia flight QZ8501 that was carrying 162 people and was flying from Surabaya, Indonesia to Singapore dropped of the radar on Sunday they have since found it in the Java Sea near Borneo marked by debris and a shadow under water that was believed to be the body of the plane and was confirmed by sonar to be just that. The sonar reveals that the plane seems to be upside down. Christian Broda reports that so far rescue efforts have recovered seven bodies (four male and 3 female) have been brought back to land. They have also found numerous belongings of the passengers in the water. Wednesdays efforts were hindered by high wind and waves which made recovering things difficult. While no definite reason has been found for the cause of the plane crash radar suggests that the plane made a steep climb before crashing. A passenger manifest may be found here. Meanwhile search and rescue efforts will continue.
